As one of the world's largest integrated manufacturers of dust control and industrial floor matting, our belief in strong customer and supplier relationships is the foundation of our business.

Our company was founded in Chicago, Illinois, by Mr. Charles Wood to manufacture and repair rubber entrance mats. The privately held corporation has grown significantly and still maintains its Headquarters in Chicago. The now 10,250 square meter facility also serves as its rubber manufacturing site.

In 1980, Superior formed its Calhoun, Georgia, U.S.A. facility. This 15,000 square meter location is responsible for the manufacture of the NOTRAX® Dust Control Mats. There is a complete tufting and backing operation. This division is ISO 9001 certified.

In 1981, Superior opened its vinyl manufacturing facility. In 1992 the facility was moved into a new 14,000 square meter location in Moselle, Mississippi, U.S.A. It is responsible for the manufacture of NOTRAX® vinyl anti-fatigue matting. This division is ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified.

Also in 1992, Superior purchased WearProof Mat Co. in Chicago, adding its 70 years of experience to the NOTRAX® product line.WearProof was a pioneer in the technology of continuous length rubber matting.

In 2000, Superior became a corporate citizen of Europe by forming Superior Manufacturing Group - Europe B.V. This allows us to support the European matting distribution channel. We are headquartered in Barendrecht, Netherlands, in 6,000 square meter facilities.

In 2001, Superior purchased the Akro Corporation of Zanesville, Ohio, U.S.A. Akro had been one of Superior's oldest and strongest competitors. The acquisition brought to Superior Akro's 50-plus years of experience, a full product line, patents and trademarks, equipment and expertise.

In 2007, Superior purchased the Food Service Matting Division of Teknor Apex. This new division will be called Notrax® Food Service Matting Division and has its Customer Service & Sales Center located in Providence, Rhode Island, U.S.A.
